Choose colour proofing paper that is able to simulate both colour gamut and paper shade of your printing process
Linearise and profile your proofer using the proofing paper in question
Make sure you are using correct press ICC-profile for print simulation
Use absolute colourimetric rendering to simulate paper shade
Use a commonly accepted colour control wedge (e.g. Ugra / Fogra Media Wedge) for quality control
Mark your proofs with the results of quality control measurement – this will show the printer that proof can be trusted
